Ontario Street closed for 23 days, lane closure in Brock

The Town of Ajax yesterday announced that Ontario Street – from Harwood Avenue South to Windsor Avenue – will be closed from May 1, 2024 to May 23 for 23 days in total (subject to closure extension weather permitting).

It said local traffic will have access to Ontario Street. Paid Duty Officer(s) will be present throughout this road closure.

Residents on the South side of Ontario Street will be left a 2m spacing from their properties for walking access. Residents that require to drive out will be required to provide a notice for workers to make room and provide safe passage over the trenches, the town notice said.

This road closure is required to accommodate the Durham Region project D2023-26 Trunk Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation (bypass pipe trenching) along Ontario Street by Capital Sewer Services.

Lane closure in Brock

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Regional Road 12 (12th Concession Road) in the Township of Brock.

These will be from May 2 to 24. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Lane restrictions will be in place daily on Regional Road 12, from 540 metres east of Sideline 17 to 30 metres west of Highway 12, and are needed for the installation of paved shoulders.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
