112 new home units planned for Courtice

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that it has received applications from two developers to build a total of 112 new townhouses and apartments in Courtice.

LCJ Thomas Estates Inc. c/o Sakmet Developments has submitted applications for a Zoning By-law Amendment and a proposed Draft Plan of Subdivision to permit 17 townhouse units in Courtice. The property is approximately one acre and is located on the northeast corner of Nash Road and Richfield Square, said the announcement.

The site is within walking distance of schools, the Courtice Community Complex and a commercial plaza. Surrounding uses include townhouses, single detached dwellings, and a commercial plaza.

The proposal also includes common elements such as outdoor amenity space, a private street, and five visitor parking spaces.

A staff report for this application will be considered by the council at the Planning and Development Committee meeting. Residents are invited to comment and can register as a delegate.

95 unit apartment building application

Lifelong Investment Corporation has submitted a rezoning application to permit a three-storey residential apartment building containing 95 units and underground parking in Courtice.

The complex is made up of four properties with a total area of approximately 0.68 hectares. The site is located at the northwest corner of Nash Road and Trulls Road and is within walking distance of schools and a commercial plaza. Surrounding land uses mainly include single-detached dwellings, the municipality said.

The applicant is proposing that the apartments will be of condominium tenure.
