12- to 14-year olds held with fake guns in Oshawa Centre

Durham police have arrested three male youth after they were seen with firearms in the Oshawa Centre.

On Wednesday, March 18 at about 7:50 pm, members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call at the Oshawa Centre located at 419 King Street West. Mall security contacted police after observing three males with concealed handguns.

Members of the Tactical Support Unit, with the assistance of front-line officers, located the suspects and took them into custody without incident. A search of the suspects found two concealed imitation firearms.

A 12-year-old male, 13-year-old male, and 14-year-old male were arrested but subsequently released unconditionally to their parents.

All youth were issued formal trespass notices banning them from attending the Oshawa Centre.
