16-year old passenger seriously hurt in Taunton crash

Durham Police yesterday said a 16-year-old male passenger was seriously injured in a collision in Whitby.

On Thursday July 25 at 6:40 am officers from the Central West Division responded to a motor vehicle collision at Lakeridge Road North and Taunton Road East.

A sedan travelling northbound on Lakeridge was turning westbound onto Taunton Road when it collided with a pickup truck with trailer travelling southbound on Lakeridge Road, causing serious injuries to the passenger of the sedan, said a police report.

The 16-year-old male passenger was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he remains in stable condition. All other parties involved sustained minor injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.
