It’s summer, it’s hot and people like the cool waters, whether for a swim or pleasure activities such as boating, boarding, surfing or jet skiing.
However, the DRPS Marine Unit would like water enthusiasts to use extreme caution on Lake Ontario as they say there appears to be higher amounts of debris floating on, or just beneath, the surface (see top image).
This is likely due to higher rain amounts flushing rivers out into the lake, said the alert.
DRPS advised boaters to be diligent and be safe.
