18-year old caught at almost triple the speed limit

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday reissued a call to residents to slow down after a stunt driver was caught almost thrice over the posted speed limit.

On Saturday May 6 at about 11:40pm, while on patrol in the area of King Street East and Kingsway College Drive in Oshawa, officers from DRPS East Division noticed a speeding vehicle.

The radar showed it was doing 140kmh in a 50kmh zone.

A traffic stop was initiated and the 18-year old male driver from Oshawa was charged. His driving licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.
