58-year old named as victim of first degree murder

Durham Police investigators have confirmed the identity of the deceased male in Durham Region’s second homicide of 2023.

On Friday, January 27 at about 9:45 am, members of Central East Division responded to an address on Drew Street after receiving a request to check on the wellbeing of a male.

Upon arrival, police discovered the victim without vital signs and suffering from significant trauma. He was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Ken Chopee, age 58, of Oshawa, said a police statement.
