62-year old man dies as car veers into creek, passenger hurt

Durham police yesterday said a 62-year-old male suffered fatal injuries after a single motor vehicle collision in Clarington.

On Sunday, November 16 at about 9:20 pm, a sedan was northbound on Newtonville Road, just north of Clarington Concession Road 4 when it lost control and left the roadway into a creek.

Officers from East Division responded to a single motor vehicle collision. As a result of the collision, the driver of the sedan from Clarington, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The passenger, a 56-year-old female was transported by EMS to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
