More snow expected to slow your morning commute

Cold north to northwest winds off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will affect the Durham area into Tuesday morning.

Localized snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm along with poor visibility in bursts of heavier snow, are forecast.

The winter weather travel advisory said Tuesday morning commute may be significantly impacted, particularly for areas southeast of Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe including the Highway 400 corridor, said an Environment Canada alert.

Conditions should improve by Tuesday afternoon.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.

If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. If you must drive, be prepared for areas of poor visibility
