70 new covid cases posted in Durham

Durham Health yesterday reported 70 new cases for November 27, bringing the region’s total to 4,307 cases since the count began on February 29.

Recoveries stand at 3,779, up by 8. There were 344 active covid cases in Durham.

  • Eighteen new cases in Whitby
  • Fifteen in Ajax
  • Fourteen in Oshawa
  • Nine in Clarington, and
  • Seven in Pickering
  • Twenty cases are under investigation

Fifteen cases are hospitalized with two in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 329 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 184, of which 154 were in long term care homes (LTCH). The last covid-related death was announced on November 25; and previous to that, one death on November 10 and another on October 15.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,333 in Ajax, followed by 1,098 in Pickering.

Death Toll: No new death

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Four deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH]
Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
