74-year old charged with historic sexual assault

A 74-year-old Whitby male has been charged in connection to a historical sexual assault involving a minor, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

The DRPS Special Victims Unit commenced an investigation last July after information came forward with allegations of a sexual nature against the suspect. These sexual assaults occurred between January 2005 to 2009 in Whitby. The male victim was 13 years old at the time of the offence.

Investigators arrested and charged the 74-year old with: Sexual Assault x2; Sexual Exploitation/Invite/Counsel; Sexual Interference With Person Under 14 Years and Make, Publish, Possess Child Pornography.
