Suspicious male approaches children in mall

Durham Police are looking to identify a suspicious male who approached several children at an Oshawa mall.

On January 5, a mother and child were shopping at the Oshawa Centre on King Street West and while walking in the mall, an unknown male approached the 7-year-old female victim and grabbed her arm. When questioned, the male walked away. Mall security was alerted and a police report was taken.

Police investigated this incident and after reviewing hours of video surveillance footage, were able to identify over a dozen instances where this unknown male suspect approaches young kids while in the company of their parents and makes some form of physical contact with the child before walking away, said a police statement.

Police are concerned about this unusual behavior and would like to speak to any witnesses.

Investigators describe the suspect as male White, mid 20’s, dark prescription glasses and brown shaggy hair. He was wearing a white jacket and dark pants.
