87-year old woman inflicts traumatic injuries on roommate

Durham police yesterday said a 87 year old woman is facing charges for seriously injuring her roommate in Ajax.

On Thursday, April 16, at around 6:35 pm, members of West Division responded to an assist ambulance call at a residence in the area of Keeble Crescent and Bennett Avenue. A woman suffering from traumatic injuries was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in critical life-threatening condition.

Further investigation revealed another resident inside of the home had assaulted the victim earlier in the day, inflicting traumatic injuries. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The victim’s condition has since been upgraded to serious but stable.

An 87-year-old woman from Ajax is charged and held for a bail hearing.

The identity of the accused is being withheld to protect her identity.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Philipp of the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1905.
