Used car dealership terrorized by multiple gunshots

An every workday evening at a used car dealership in Whitby’s was rudely interrupted by several gunshots, according to Durham police.

“This is a brazen act of violence and a total disregard for public safety. It will not be tolerated in Durham and
DRPS will do everything to find these suspects,” said Police Chief Peter Moreira.

On Wednesday, April 15, around 5:30 pm, members of Central West Division responded to an armed person call at a used car dealership in the area of Hopkins Street and Dundas Street East. Officers attended and located several spent bullet casings.

Surveillance video captured the incident. In the footage, a suspect arrives at the dealership parking lot in a white Honda CR‑V, exits the vehicle, and fires several shots at a trailer on the property before fleeing the area.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident, police said.

Police have released video footage of the incident and asking anyone with information to contact them.
