Johannes Kotilainen is Green MP candidate for Whitby

The Whitby Green Party yesterday announced that Johannes Kotilainen will be the Green candidate for the riding of Whitby in the upcoming Federal Election on September 20th.

Johannes is a 31-year old father of two, born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area. After graduating from Capilano University in British Columbia, he returned to Toronto to complete Seneca College’s Green Business Management program with honours and began a career in finance with the goal of bringing sustainability into the business world. He is presently a member of IATSE 873, building sets for film and television in Toronto and is a member of the IATSE 873 environmental committee.

“I am honoured to be the Green Party candidate for Whitby and to have the opportunity to represent the community that my family and I call home,” said Kotilainen, “Whitby is a growing community that needs strong, responsible representation in parliament. We’ve seen the impacts of climate change significantly increase over the past six years of Liberal government and we need action that only the Green Party is prepared to take to confront this immediate threat.”

The campaign will be managed by Doug Anderson and be supported by a seasoned group of individuals that make up the Whitby Green Party. Doug is the former publisher/owner of the Whitby Free Press and the Green candidate in the 2008 Federal Election. Peter Misiaszek will act as the Official Agent. The Whitby Green Party executive also includes Sharon Trbovich (Secretary), Deborah Loosemore (Membership), Brian Fraser (Website), Adam Walker and Phillip Holland (Communications).
