Here’s where you can plug in your EV in Whitby

Whitby yesterday released a list of eight Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations across the town where 15 EVs can be charged simultaneously.

As part of the town’s commitment to environmental sustainability and to benefit the community, we are pleased to inform residents we have installed electric vehicle chargers at a number of town facilities, said a town statement.

Electric Vehicle Charging Fees

  • $1.50 service fee plus $1.50 per hour for the first three hours
  • After three hours the fee will go up to $4 per hour

How to Use the Electric Vehicle Chargers

  1. Make a payment using ChargePoint or a credit card – view a short video to learn more about charging your vehicle with ChargePoint.
  2. Push the button on the connector and lift it out of the holster on the station.
  3. Plug the connector into your EV to start charging. Check to make sure your EV is charging.
  4. When charging is finished, just unplug and return the connector to the station.

Why Install Electric Vehicle Chargers?

Whitby has committed to climate action and achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions across the community by 2050. Transportation is currently the largest source of these greenhouse gas emissions in Durham Region and electric cars are part of the solution.

These stations are part of an Electric Vehicle Networking program delivered in partnership with the Region of Durham and surrounding local municipalities with funding support provided by the Federal Governments Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
