Durham Police investigators have arrested a 35-year-old Pickering female after it was discovered she imported a high-end stolen vehicle.
As a part of Project Navigator, an on-going investigation that focuses on vehicle finance frauds in the GTA, investigators discovered the accused had imported a 2019 Bentley Bentayga, worth more than US$200,000, into Canada in November 2019. During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen from California and imported with an incorrect VIN, said the police.
A warrant was issued for the accused and she turned herself into police.
The suspect has been charged with: Possession Property Obtained by Crime Outside Canada; Traffic in Property Obtained by Crime Outside Canada; Launder Proceeds of Foreign Crime; Fraud Over and Fraudulent Concealment. She was held for a bail hearing. Further details at www.drps.ca.
