Man threatens to shoot gas station, hotel staff

Durham Police, while investigating multiple incidents in Oshawa and Whitby on the weekend, have arrested two suspects and seized a loaded firearm.

On Sunday, April 3, at about 2:30 am, officers from Central West Division responded to an unwanted person call at the Petro Canada Gas Station on Simcoe Street North in Oshawa. The male suspect threatened to shoot the gas station attendant and fled the area with a female, said a police statement.

A short time later, police responded to a disturbance at the Holiday Inn on Consumers Drive in Whitby. The male suspect assaulted and threatened to shoot a staff member. The male suspect fled the area with a female to the Motel 6 on Consumers Drive in Whitby.

Police located the male and female suspect at the Motel 6 who were taken into custody without incident. While searching the suspects, police located and seized a loaded firearm.

The man from Ajax faces 13 criminal charges including: Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon; Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License; Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm; Possess Contrary to Order x4; Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Uttering Threats x3 and Mischief Under $5000.

The woman from Oshawa, is charged with: Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon; Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License and Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm.
