Durham Police have charged a teen after a 19-year-old female was shot in Oshawa Wednesday morning.
On April 13 at about 11:44 am, members from Central East Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Normandy Street and Dean Avenue in Oshawa. When they arrived, they located a female suffering from a gunshot wound.
The 19-year-old victim was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma center where she was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. She remains in hospital in stable condition, said a police statement.
The suspect involved, fled the residence but was located and arrested a short distance away by police.
A 17-year-old male of Oshawa faces numerous firearms-related charges, including: Attempt Murder; Aggravated Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Discharge Firearm with intent to Wound; Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon; Possess Weapon for Committing Offence; Use Firearm During Commission of an Offence; Careless Use/Handle/Store Firearm; Pointing a Firearm and Possess Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm.
The suspect was held for a bail hearing.
