The Regional Municipality of Durham is asking residents using the Port Perry municipal water supply to practise additional water conservation efforts.
It said the Works Department is connecting the recently installed watermain along Scugog Line 3. The new watermain will improve water supply for residents.
Works will take place on Thursday, November 24 from 7 am to 8 pm, said a municipal notice.
“Residents should refrain from non-essential water use during this time. Once the work is completed, residents may return to normal water conservation efforts,” it said.
Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule, the region added.
It said the affected area covers Port Perry in the Township of Scugog.
The Regional Municipality of Durham awarded contract D2021-53 to Coco Paving Inc (GIP). The project scope consists of the installation of twin 400 millimetre diameter watermains on Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) from Well No. 6 south to Scugog Line 3 as well as the installation of a 300 millimetre diameter watermain on Scugog Line 3 from Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) to Old Simcoe Road.
