Sometimes it is difficult to understand why we are being stopped. But here the police had a reason, as this motorcyclist waiting at the signals found out.
DRPS North Division officers have been active at intersections, issuing 141 tickets and 22 cautions in just one week at high-collision signals in Uxbridge, Brock and Scugog. These were mostly for red light and stop sign violations. The blitz was part of Project Northern Focus during the last week of August.
Referring to the motorcyclist, police said licence plates must be visible at the front and or the back.
“This motorcycle’s plate was tucked under the seat. Not legal. Keep it clear or face a fine,” police said..
Two Tickets in One Go
North Division reported that a vehicle (image below) was issued two parking tickets in Scugog:
🚫 Parked the wrong way (left wheels to the curb)
🚫 Parked within 3m of a fire hydrant
Back-to-School Stunt Driving
North Division officers have been extra vigilant around schools the past week as most students headed back to classes.
North Division Traffic charged a driver (image below) with stunt driving yesterday morning in Port Perry for excessive speed.
✅ 30-day licence suspension
✅ 14-day vehicle impound
“Kids are back in school, please slow down and obey speed limits,” said the police.
Speeding at More Than Double the Limit
Central East Division officers yesterday stopped a vehicle travelling 110kmh in a 50kmh community safety zone (see image below).
The driver was charged with driving while under suspension, speeding, stunt driving and careless driving.
Their driving licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days, police said.
