Drone show at fairgrounds opening + 70th birthday fest

The Town of Ajax has announced that the opening of the Ajax Fairgrounds and the town’s 70th Anniversary celebration will be held coming Friday, September 19.

“Join us for a celebration of the Town of Ajax’s 70th Anniversary and the official opening of the Ajax Fairgrounds on September 19 from 6 to 9:15 pm. This event will feature our first ever Drone Show at 9 pm to celebrate the occasion,” said the announcement.

What to expect:

  • Live music – Kim & Company/Jack Stauffer
  • Food trucks & interactive activities (closing at 9 pm)
  • Sip & celebrate with cocktails and craft beer
  • Information booths and a chance to demo new scooters/e-bikes through Lime Micromobility

Car-free Event With No On-site Parking

The town emphasized that this is a completely car-free event with no on-site parking.

Limited accessibility parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible parking pass must be presented at the entrance.

Shuttle Service

There will be a shuttle from one of three locations:

  1. Ajax Down’s Gravel Parking Lot (50 Alexander’s Crossing, Ajax). Lower gravel parking lot, adjacent to Kingston Road.)
  2. Ajax Town Hall (65 Harwood Avenue South)
  3. J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate (1355 Harwood Avenue North)

Road Closures

Audley Road will be closed on Friday, September 19 from 5 pm until 10 pm between Rossland Road and Williamson Drive East. 

To further support this car-free event and discourage vehicle traffic and inappropriate parking in the neighbourhood adjacent to the Fairgroundsthe town will be implementing temporary parking restrictionsBeginning around September 17 crews will begin installing temporary “No Parking” signs on one side of the 11 streets with enforcement beginning on September 19 in advance of the event.

The Audley Recreation Centre will remain open for regular programming during this event.
