Durham Police yesterday said two males are facing charges after a carjacking escalated into a home invasion in Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington.
On Wednesday, September 10 at about 9:15 pm, members from East Division responded to a home invasion in the area of Maple Grove Road and Nash Road.
Officers arrived at the residence and the victim reported the suspect entered the garage and demanded her vehicle while threatening her with a knife. The suspect chased the victim around the garage before she dropped her keys and ran into the house screaming for help, police said.
Her husband came to her aid and was also chased by the suspect. The victims were able to get through the door leading into the residence and close the door on the suspect who was forcefully trying to gain entry. The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle prior to police arrival. A second suspect also fled in the vehicle used to follow the victim, police said.
