An 81-year old male suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Oshawa on Sunday, November 2 at about 6:30 pm.
This is the fifth incident since the middle of October involving a pedestrian being hit by a motor vehicle. A 50-year old man was hit with a car in Ajax and died at the scene. On Oct 27th a 66-year old man was struck by a car in Oshawa. A 12-year old boy had been hit the week prior in Oshawa as well. Finally, on Oct 16th an elderly man was reported to be in critical condition after being hit by an SUV in Port Perry (see below).
At the intersection of Simcoe Street South and Mill Street, during a green light, an 81-year old pedestrian was on the cross walk when he was hit by a Chevrolet SUV, heading south. The elderly man sustained life threatening injuries and was rushed to a Toronto area trauma center. He is currently in a stable condition.
The driver, a 53 year old male did not sustain any injuries and remained on scene to speak with police. DRPS Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) closed the road for several hours to conduct their investigation into the crash. DRPS is now encouraging anyone with information or footage of the accident to contact them.
