A 220-metre high tower proposed for Bayly Street in Ajax?

The Town of Ajax said it has received a proposal to build a 220-metre high tower at 493 Bayly Street West.

To implement the project an Official Plan Amendment and a Zoning By-law Amendment is required, for which the town will host a Statutory Public Meeting today (Monday, October 21)  at 1 pm.

The 220-metre tower will be a residential mixed-use building, the town said.

It said the purpose of Official Plan Amendment Application OPA24-A13 and the proposed implementing by-law is to redesignate the lands from the Prestige Employment designation to the GO Transit Station Mixed Use Area designation and establish Area Specific Policy 6.42 for the subject lands to permit a maximum height of 220 metres and a maximum podium height of 40 metres.

The purpose of Zoning By-law Amendment Application Z17/24 and the proposed implementing by-law is to rezone the lands from the Prestige Employment (PE) Zone to GO Transit Station Mixed Use Area (GS) and Environmental Protection (EP) Zone with a site-specific exception (Exception 228), to establish development standards that would implement the proposed residential mixed-use development of the subject lands.

No further details of the project were available in the announcement.
