Road closures, lane restrictions in Oshawa and Newcastle

The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced road closures and lane restrictions in Oshawa and Newcastle during fall and winter this year.

It said there are lane restrictions on Bloor Street West (Regional Road 22) in the City of Oshawa.

When: October 17 to December 17. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Where: Eastbound and westbound lane restrictions will take place on Bloor Street West, from east of Thornton Road South to Stevenson Road South (Regional Road 53), in Oshawa.

Why: To allow for the relocation of Enbridge Gas infrastructure in preparation for a pending region capital works project. The region did not specify the project.

It said local businesses and the Durham College Oshawa GO/Via Rail station will be accessible throughout the construction.

Ritson Road

The Regional Municipality is also advising residents of a road closure on Ritson Road North in the City of Oshawa.

When: November 2 to end of day November 3.

Where: Ritson Road North (Regional Road 16) between Maine Street and Britannia Avenue East, in Oshawa.

Why: To safely install a sanitary sewer in support of new development.

Newcastle

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of a road closure on North Street (Regional Road 17) in the Municipality of Clarington’s community of Newcastle.

When: October 21 to December 18.

Where: North Street, from Grady Drive to 550 metres north of Grady Drive, in Newcastle.

Why: To safely reconstruct North Street to support new development.
