Slot revenues from Casino Ajax are being reinvested into community organizations through the Ajax Partnership Fund, according to a town statement.
Yesterday, representatives from the Town of Ajax and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Commission celebrated their continued partnership as a host community, which resulted in $5,042,543 in revenues received by the town for fiscal 2022-23.
Through their agreement, the town reinvests a portion of these funds into the Ajax Partnership Fund and the remainder into its capital reserves each year.
The town said through the 2023 Ajax Partnership Fund, the Ajax Legion received approximately $9,000 towards the purchase and installation of a fire suppression system. This new system will help maintain safety in their kitchen and allow the Ladies Auxiliary to expand their catering offerings to patrons that use the Legion’s facility.
“Ajax is proud to continue to host Casino Ajax and ensure the funds we receive are reinvested into the community to increase resident quality of life while decreasing the impact on the tax base. Thank you to the OLG and the Ajax Legion for your partnership and continued commitment to making Ajax a better place,” said Mayor Shaun Collier.
“OLG is proud to be a vital part of the Town of Ajax. Each and every year, 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested in Ontario to support provincial priorities. From critical infrastructure to important local programs, to community festivals, OLG’s profits are hard at work in Ajax and across our province to build stronger communities,” said Kathleen Devine, Senior Municipal Relations Manager for OLG.
“Since the casino was first introduced to the community, the Town of Ajax has received over $105 million from OLG as a casino gaming host community. Today we are seeing one example of how a share of the gaming revenue from Casino Ajax is contributing to the town,” she added.
