Another pedestrian struck, critically hurt in nighttime hit

A 59-year-old male was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Ajax Wednesday night, said Durham Police.

On October 25 at about 11:18 pm, members from West Division responded to a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Kingston Road East and Salem Road North in Ajax.

A grey Toyota Corolla was driving eastbound on Kingston Road when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, a 59-year-old Oshawa male. The driver of the Toyota remained on scene, police said.

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Toronto based trauma centre where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota Corolla was not injured.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
