A multi-use trail in the Town of Ajax will be closed from coming Monday June 22 to December 31, the region announced.
It said pedestrian and cyclist access to the multi-use trail within the Southwood Drive Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station easement will be detoured via Clements Road.
This is being done to safely complete sanitary sewer improvements next to the Southwood Park Public School. The existing 450-milimetre asbestos cement sanitary sewer will be removed and replaced with a new 600 millimetre concrete sanitary sewer, said a region statement.
Summit Concrete & Drain will be on site the week of June 22 to start preparing for the work. The construction is expected to finish by December 31, 2026.
Traffic is not expected to be impacted by the active construction. The daycare at Southwood Park Public School will remain open during construction, the statement said.
