Dog park postponed to 2027 for lack of $8000 extra cost

Brock township  staff have recommended that council defer the Beaverton Dog Park capital project to the 2027 budget in order to include additional funding.

The shortfall in the current year’s budget is $8,241.75 plus HST to complete the dog park.

The Beaverton Dog Park has been in  the works for some time. Township staff have brought forward reports to council on the proposed dog park in previous meetings.

In July last year, two quotations were received that were slightly over the established budget of $15,000. Council, at that meeting deferred the report and asked staff to consider enlarging the fenced area. The last report, presented at the council meeting last October 14, deferred the project again based on under funding.

During the 2026 budget, an additional $5,000 was allocated to this project.

Staff met with the mayor this spring to review the proposed area for the dog park and mapped out a revised area to include both a large and small dog park area. The revised areas were sent out for quotes from the two previous contractors.

The quotes received were in excess of the budgeted $20,000 amount by $8,241.75 plus HST.
