Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is searching for a suspect after a restaurant in Whitby was broken into, with the alarm activating and forcing the thief to flee before successfully stealing any high-value items.
The attempted theft occurred on Monday, August 11 at about 1:35 am. The male suspect targeted Los Cabos Cantina and Grill, located at 1009 Dundas Street East.
The individual gained entry by smashing a window. Once inside, the suspect attempted to pry open a refrigerator containing alcohol and tried to gain access to the management office. However, the building’s security alarm was triggered, causing the male to immediately flee the premises, police said.
The suspect is described as a white male of medium build, between the ages of 45 to 55 years with long dark hair; wearing a dark coloured hoodie and pant.
