Durham police have issued an arrest warrant for a man who has fled Canada after fraudulently using documents to purchase a vehicle in Pickering.
In July 2025, investigators from the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) began an investigation into the fraudulent purchase of a vehicle after they were contacted by the staff of a dealership in Pickering.
In February 2025, the suspect attended the dealership and purchased a 2025 Hyundai Elantra sedan with fraudulent documents. The suspect made no payments for the vehicle, which was later confirmed exported to the Netherlands.
The 29-year old suspect from Romania fled the country within a week of purchasing the vehicle. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca
