Durham police have issued an arrest warrant for a male who used fake documents to purchase a vehicle in Pickering.
Last July, investigators from the DRPS Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) began an investigation into the fraudulent purchase of a vehicle after they were contacted by the staff of a dealership in Pickering.
In August 2024, the suspect attended the dealership and purchased a 2024 Hyundai Palisade SUV with fraudulent documents.
The suspect ceased making payments after receiving the vehicle. The vehicle was tracked to an export company but was not recovered. The suspect has since fled the country.
The 26-year old man from Romania is still wanted. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the D/Cst. Taylor of the Financial Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5283.
