Metrolinx yesterday announced what it called an important GO service update for Lakeshore East, Stouffville and UP Express customers.
The operator of GO Transit is also adding additional trips on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 to help fans get to a number of events in Toronto.
Lakeshore East
Starting Saturday, March 28, until end of service on Sunday, March 29, Lakeshore East Line rail service will be temporarily modified to accommodate critical track work.
These track closures are required to make essential improvements to bring better, faster and more frequent trips, Metrolinx said
During this time, GO trains will run on an hourly schedule between Durham College Oshawa GO and express Union Station.
Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29: GO trains will run on an hourly schedule between Durham College Oshawa GO and Union Station.
Stouffville line trains connect to Lakeshore East train service at Scarborough GO. Due to the adjusted train schedules, station buildings, platforms, stairwells, and walkways may be busier than usual. Please spread out along platforms and use all available doors when boarding, said Metrolinx.
GO bus route 88 Eastbound: If connecting to bus trips departing Durham College Oshawa GO at 11:30, 14:30, 18:30, and 19:30, the connection time will be approximately 45-minutes (30 minutes more than usual). Additionally, customers must take the train from Union 30 minutes earlier than their usual train.
Westbound: If departing Trent University at 12:04, 13:39, 16:39, and 18:09, customers will have a 45-minute connection time to Lakeshore East service at Durham College Oshawa GO (30 minutes more than usual).
Regular service will resume on Monday, March 30.
Stouffville Line
Starting on Saturday, March 28, until end of service on Sunday, March 29, Stouffville Line rail service will be temporarily modified to accommodate critical track work.
During this time, GO trains will run between Old Elm and Scarborough GO stations. Customers traveling towards Union Station will transfer to Lakeshore East hourly service at Scarborough GO.
Southbound customers: GO trains will end at Scarborough GO, customers heading to Union Station will transfer onto Lakeshore East trains which will arrive in three minutes and 18 minutes after Stouffville line trains enter the station.
Northbound customers: Stouffville line trains will depart hourly from Scarborough GO; customer must take the Lakeshore East line and transfer at Scarborough GO.
Regular service will resume on Monday, March 30.
UP Express
Starting on Saturday, March 28, until end of service on Sunday, March 29, UP Express rail service will be temporarily suspended to accommodate critical track work.
On Friday March 27, some late-evening UP Express trains will be adjusted due to planned construction.
The following trips will be cancelled:
The 23:15 train towards Pearson
The 23:54 train towards Union Station
GO buses will replace UP Express trains while important work to support Woodbine GO is completed.
UP Express trains will be replaced by direct GO bus service between Pearson and Union Station Bus Terminal. Estimated travel time is between 30 and 50 minutes.
There will be no UP service at Bloor, Mount Dennis and Weston stations.
On Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29: GO buses will run direct between Union Station Bus Terminal and Pearson Airport Terminal 1.
Monday, March 30: Regular service from Union Station to Pearson Airport will resume on Monday, March 30 at 04:55. Regular service from Pearson Airport to Union Station will resume on Monday, March 30 at 05:27.
There will be no replacement bus service at Bloor, Mount Dennis or Weston UP/GO stations. Customers travelling to and from Weston, Mount Dennis and Bloor UP/GO stations are encouraged to use local transit options like the TTC.
Customers are asked to plan ahead, take their time and visit the websites or sign up for email or text On-the-GO Alerts to receive real-time service notifications.
