Clarington gets new fire chief, Brock welcomes interim CAO

Bradley Lamport

The Municipality of Clarington yesterday announced the appointment of Bradley Lamport as Clarington’s new Fire Chief and Director of Emergency and Fire Services, effective March 30.

“Clarington Council is pleased to congratulate Brad as he steps into the role of Fire Chief. His proven leadership will help ensure our growing community continues to receive outstanding fire protection and emergency response services,” said Mayor Adrian Foster.

Chief Lamport joined the Clarington Emergency and Fire Services as Deputy Chief in February 2024.

Prior to joining Clarington, he started his career as a Volunteer Firefighter in Georgina, then spent 18 years serving with the Markham Fire Department, progressing through leadership positions.

He lives on a small farm in Kawartha Lakes with his wife and is the proud father of three boys; two of whom are already following in their father’s footsteps as Firefighters in Richmond Hill and Markham.

Clarington acknowledged Mariano Perini for his leadership as Interim Fire Chief since the retirement of Chief David Speed this past fall. While carrying dual responsibilities, Mariano provided steady and effective leadership in support of both Public Works and Fire Services, ensuring continuity of operations and organizational stability during the transition period.

Interim CAO

In the Township of Brock Mayor Michael Jubb announced that Fernando Lamanna will be appointed as Acting Chief Administrative Offiver and Clerk commencing April 11.

“Mr. Lamanna has served with the municipality for over 5 years and has proven himself as a competent leader with well over two decades of municipal service and currently fills the Deputy CAO/Clerk role in Brock,” the mayor said.

He added that Fernando is a valuable member of “Team Brock” and that council is extremely confident with this decision.

Moving forward, the first order of business for the new term of council, beginning this fall, will be to decide on filling the permanent CAO role.

Lamanna brings extensive experience in municipal government. His strong technical background, proven leadership, and deep understanding of municipal operations position him well for the Acting CAO and Clerk role. He will serve as Acting CAO for the remainder of 2026. Following the municipal election, the new term of council will begin the recruitment and hiring process for a permanent CAO.

Outgoing CAO Michelle Willson will conclude her role on April 10. A transition plan will be developed collaboratively with Council to ensure continuity of operations.
