Brock to get $574,000 from province for ice storm recovery

The Township of Brock has announced approval of funding of up to $574,000 in financial support from the provincial government, reimbursing the municipality for expenses incurred during the cleanup and emergency response efforts following the severe March 28, 2025 ice storm.

Laurie Scott, MPP for Brock said: “The end of March 2025 brought a storm like no other to the communities in our region. Our provincial government recognized the need to financially support our municipalities, who played a critical role in cleaning up the widespread devastation.”

This funding is part of Ontario’s Municipal Ice Storm Assistance Program, which is providing up to $26.8 million to municipalities across the Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes–Brock region to assist with recovery from the devastating storm. The ice storm caused extensive damage across central and eastern Ontario—downing hydro lines, uprooting trees, and leaving nearly 400,000 homes and businesses without power. Brock was among the many communities that faced significant impacts and substantial cleanup requirements.

“I would like to give my thanks and appreciation to our MPP Laurie Scott, and the Province of Ontario, for the approval of emergency funding to assist with clean-up from the devastating 2025 ice-storm. This provincial funding is critical for our small, rural municipality,” said Brock Mayor Michael Jubb.
