Two men and a woman are facing numerous charges following a human trafficking investigation in Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area.
Last May, investigators with the DRPS Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) began an investigation after receiving reports of a female being groomed into escorting.
The woman was threatened with physical violence and forced to work in the sex trade across Durham Region and the GTA.
In March, investigators concluded their investigation and executed a search warrant at a residence in Pickering.
As a result, two male suspects and a female suspect were taken into custody. In addition, several drugs, a loaded firearm, and prohibited overcapacity magazines were located and seized. Police have concerns there may be further victims.
The 34-year old woman from Pickering was released on an undertaking. The 47-year old man from Pickering and the 36-year old man from Oshawa were held for a bail hearing. Photos and names of the accused can be viewed at www.drps.ca.
