Armed driver seen after brief altercation in Ajax

Durham Police officers arrested a male driver after a traffic stop in Ajax yielded a handgun over the weekend.

On Saturday, June 11 at about 10:20 am, members of West Division received information that an armed driver was observed by a citizen after a brief altercation.

Officers located the rental vehicle, a 2022 GMC Canyon and conducted a traffic stop near Westney Road and Highway 401. Police arrested the driver and seized a loaded handgun and fentanyl, said a police statement..

The suspect from Ajax was charged. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

He was held for a bail hearing.
