Baby racoon saved from being run over

The K-9 Unit of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is not only famous for its police service dogs, tracking, chasing down and inviting suspects to peacefully surrender, but like all members of the police force, they also do some pretty amazing work, such as saving lives.

The latest to be saved from almost certain death was a baby racoon, according to a tweet released by the DRPS K-9 Unit.

PC Handscomb’s keen observation skills saved this baby Racoon’s life (pictured above and below), it said.

“Prior to pulling away in his K9 SUV, he observed this little ‘furry beast’ hiding in his truck’s wheel well,” said the tweet.

The baby racoon was safely captured and later released by PC Handscomb.

No further details were made available.
