Police station vandal let off with ‘promise to appear’

A 19-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of vandalism acts in Beaverton.

He is suspected of breaking the windows of a police station – and after the police boarded them up – he is said to have come back and sprayed anti-police graffiti on them.

On Saturday, August 17  at 8:30 pm, two officers on patrol in Beaverton were stopped by a citizen who had seen a male spray painting a Township of Brock white work van. The officers located the male on Bay Street and arrested him without incident.

Officers located several cans of spray paint, lighters and tools used to smash windows. Further investigation identified the male as the suspect that had been involved in a recent rash of mischiefs in Beaverton.

Joseph Williams, age 19, of Fifth Street in Beaverton has been charged with Mischief Over $5000 x10.

He was later released on a Promise to Appear notice.

Even though the vandal was masked with a handkerchief, the police have asked his cam images to be removed.
