Beware of people trying to transfer your vehicle ownership

Beware of someone fraudulently trying to register your vehicle as someone else’s.

A man is facing charges after attempting to fraudulently transfer vehicle ownerships in Whitby.

On Thursday, May 28, at around 3:30 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a fraud in progress call at the Service Ontario located at 1615 Dundas Street East.

A man attended the Service Ontario and attempted to register several vehicles not in his name to a third party.

The accused had previously made several transactions deemed to be fraudulent, police said.

Officers attended the Service Ontario and took the male into custody without incident.

The 52-year old man from Toronto was released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
