Caesarea pavement preservation project delayed

The Township of Scugog has announced that the Caesarea pavement preservation project has been delayed.

It is set to continue later this week, depending on weather, said a township update.

The work was anticipated to begin on July 18 and was to be completed within two days.

The township has contracted Superior Road Products to apply preservation seal to multiple roads within Caesarea. These roads include:

  • Marina Drive,
  • Heron Street,
  • Rowan Avenue,
  • Park Street,
  • Lake View Avenue,
  • Center Street,
  • Pleasant View Avenue,
  • 42nd Street,
  • Pine Street,
  • First Street,
  • Angle Street,
  • Putsey Drive,
  • Jack Rabbit Run, and
  • Williams Point Road.

This in-depth preservative seal will enhance the performance of asphalt street thereby lowering lifecycle service costs, said the township.

It said residents may experience a short interruption of access to driveways while equipment passes their frontage, and asked them to observe all signs and flag person’s directions.

Sand cover will be swept up within one or two days after sealing (weather permitting). It urged motorists to use caution when driving on loose sand. “Drive Slowly (5 kmh) if you accidentally enter a freshly-treated area that has not been sanded. Sealer can be removed from a vehicle with a pressure washer and de-greaser soap”.

Keep children and pets out of treated areas to avoid tracking into houses. Material tracked onto driveways will weather off within a few weeks, it said.

This is an environmentally responsible cost-effective pavement preservation process that has a 40+ year proven record of performance, added the township.
