Changes coming to Oshawa fees and charges?

The City of Oshawa has prepared amendments to its Fees and Charges By-law 109-2024, which, if approved today, could become law by the end of this month.

Oshawa had among the highest hikes in property taxes in 2025, when the city raised its taxes by 7.87 per cent (see below).

The Corporate and Finance Services Committee will today consider Report CF-25-44 recommending the amendments concerning various fees imposed by the City of Oshawa. The report and proposed by-law was available on the city’s website at www.oshawa.ca as of September 3, the city said.

Upon adoption of a recommendation by the Corporate and Finance Services Committee, City Council will consider the matter and pass the necessary amending by-law at a meeting on September 29, the city added.

  1. Regarding homeless or others passing out, etc. on private property but refusing to go with ambulance or police. Homeowners are subjected to unbearable noise and threats with no recourse. We must always remember that rights have equal responsibilities and one must be able to exercise the authority to balance the rights and responsibilities. I’m failing to see much beyond everyone screaming about their own rights.
