Changes to blue box collection in Oshawa and Whitby

The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding Oshawa and Whitby residents of changes to scheduled blue box collection due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday on Monday, October 9.

Changes will run from October 9 until Saturday, October 14.

Only residents of the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby will temporarily have their blue box collection moved to the next day.

This means that blue box collection scheduled for Monday, October 9 (Thanksgiving Day) will be moved to Tuesday, October 10. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, October 13 collection being moved to Saturday, October 14.

Residents are reminded to have blue box materials at the curb by 7 am on the day of collection.

Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. Residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local area municipality regarding the collection of these items.
