Changes to blue box pick up in Oshawa, Whitby

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising Oshawa and Whitby residents of changes to scheduled curbside blue box collection in observance of the upcoming Civic Holiday.

  • When: Monday, August 1 to Saturday, August 6.
  • Where: Oshawa and Whitby residents will temporarily have their blue box collection moved to the following day. Residents with collection scheduled for Monday, August 1, will temporarily have their collection moved to Tuesday, August 2. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, August 5 collection being moved to Saturday, August 6.
  • Why: In observance of the Civic Holiday.

Residents are reminded to have blue box materials at the curb by 7 am, on the day of collection. Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. Residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local area municipality regarding the collection of these items, said a statement.
