Two kids, two drivers hurt in collision on Whites Road

Serious Collision Leaves Four Persons Injured in Pickering

A serious collision in Pickering involving two motor vehicles resulted in four occupants receiving various injuries Tuesday evening.

On July 26 at about 5:08 pm, members of West Division were called to a serious two-vehicle collision that occurred on Whites Road south of Pickering Concession Road 3. At this time, a red Chevrolet sedan was travelling southbound on Whites Road when it was involved in a head-on collision with a northbound black Subaru sedan, said a police statement.

Both drivers of the vehicles were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two children, occupants in the black Subaru, were transported to a Toronto-area hospital, with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Whites Road was closed in both directions from Craighurst Ct to Pickering Concession Road 3.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday continued to monitor traffic, especially in the northern townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge as well as in Whitby and Pickering.

DRPS Traffic Services said yesterday’s enforcement focused on improper exhausts, unnecessary noise and speed in the Town of Whitby in the area of Whitby Shores (below).

“Please slow down and be considerate of your neighbours. This is a complaint based enforcement initiative,” it said.

DRPS North Division said its traffic officers were conducting radar along Uxbridge Concession Road 6 at Wagg Road in Uxbridge.

“Please obey the speed limit”.

It also monitored traffic in Brock and Scugog.

 

Meanwhile DRPS Traffic Services asked motorist to follow the great advice from Whitby… be sure to watch for kids, obey the speed limit and exercise patience with fellow road users.

“This is our Region of Durham, we are all neighbours here. Let’s ensure it’s the safest place to live, work and play,” it said.
