The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced changes to the scheduled curbside waste collection due to the upcoming Easter holidays.
It said residents of Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge, who have curbside collection scheduled for Friday, April 7, will have their waste collected the following day on Saturday, April 8.
Residents of Oshawa and Whitby with blue box collection scheduled for Friday, April 7, will have their recyclables collected on Saturday, April 8. Blue box collection scheduled for Monday, April 10, will be moved to Tuesday, April 11. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, April 14 collections being moved to Saturday, April 15.
The region said garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local municipality regarding the collection of these items during the holiday weekend.
The Regional Waste Management Facilities in Brock, Scugog and Oshawa, and the Household Special Waste Depot in Clarington, will be closed Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8. Regular operating hours will resume Tuesday, April 11.
