Police have arrested and charged the suspect in the muder of Katie Kainz with Second Degree Murder and Attempt Murder.
On March 12 at about 4 am, members of Central East Division responded to an address on Simcoe Street, Oshawa for reports of an armed person. Police arrived on scene and located two adult females suffering from stab wounds. Both females were transported to Toronto-area trauma centres where Katie Kainz succumbed to her injuries.
On Tuesday, April 4 at around 10:25 pm, members of Central East Division attended 769 Wilson Road North in Oshawa after receiving a tip from an anonymous caller that they just saw the suspect. The caller had previously seen his picture in media reports and recognized him. Numerous members attended the scene and quickly established a perimeter. Officers located the suspect in the area, and he was taken into custody without incident, said a police statement.
