Do you jump the left-hand turn as light turns green?

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is on a campaign to reduce stunt driving in the region through both enforcement and education.

DRPS pointed out that excessive speeding is considered stunt driving.

It explained that when a driver is doing speeds in excess of 40kmh over the posted speed limit (when the speed limit is less than 80), it is considered stunt driving.

When the posted speed limit is 80 or above, any speed in excess of 50 over is considered stunt driving.

It said on top of being charged with stunt driving, the vehicle is impounded for 14 days and the driver’s licence is suspended for 30 days.

DRPS East Division added that jumping to make that left-hand turn when the light turns green, is also defined as stunt driving.

Police posted the below reports from Whitby as examples of stunt driving.
