Civic complex underground parking closed

Construction for replacement of the ramp to the underground parking garage at the Pickering Civic Complex is scheduled to begin today (July 5, 2021). This project will take approximately eight to ten weeks to complete, subject to any weather-related delays.

The parking garage will be closed for the entire duration of the project, said a city statement.

Staff who normally park in the garage, will be directed to park their personal or company vehicles in other areas. Pickering Town Centre is private property and that no special provisions have been made for use of their parking lot by city staff. A small portion of sidewalk will be closed during the course of this project, said a city statement.

Deliveries had previously been redirected to the main entrance of the Civic Complex as a result of Covid-19 measures, and will be maintained in the current format for the duration of the project. This work has been purposefully scheduled to minimize disruptions to ongoing services by commencing immediately after the Canada Day holiday and overlapping with the summer recess of council.
